Who We Are and Why We Ride
Kathryn Haavik is a parent of 2-kids and bikes them to school every day, sun, wind, rain or snow. She is a Licensed Cycling Instructor (LCI) with the League of American Bicyclists.
She was a former teacher of English in France and a Peace Corps Volunteer in Turkmenistan of English and worked for the NYC Department of Education for 8 years.
A swimmer growing up, she was a Varsity D1 Water Polo Athlete at the University of Michigan. She is a 2x Ironman Finisher, a 2x 70.3 Ironman Finisher, has cycled from NYC to DC with the Climate Ride, and from NYC to Montauk multiple times for day-rides and is a 3x NYC Marathon Finisher.
She has ridden thousands of miles on the road with multiple bike groups and coupled with actual practice, her information and training incorporates feedback and information from government agencies, multiple national experts and local bike groups to make sure that all information is accurate, legal and helpful for the kids to be safe.
